Description

The Corporate Development team supports the strategic agenda and direction for the company. The team addresses high impact strategic issues across Citizens' portfolio of businesses, works with business leaders to develop and execute against strategic roadmaps, and identifies and executes against Corporate Development / M&A opportunities. They are responsible for assisting with driving M&A opportunities. Specific areas of responsibility including articulating and aligning M&A strategy, supporting the pipeline of potential opportunities, analyzing and leading corporate development activities, assisting high priority programs and initiatives (including corporate finance), enhancing the capabilities of Corporate Development.

Citizens is seeking a highly motivated individual to join its Corporate Development team. The Corporate Development Associate will join a collaborative and highly visible group focused on executing M&A transactions, minority investments, and partnerships across the bank. This role will support all aspects of the transaction process, including sourcing, financial analysis, structuring, due diligence, and documentation. The Corporate Development Associate will coordinate cross-functional deal teams as well as serve as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders. This role reports to the Head of Corporate Development and will support team members based on specific needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and support the execution of multiple complex financial transactions from deal sourcing through closing.
  • Conduct detailed research and strategic analyses of industries and companies.
  • Create and maintain financial models and perform complex financial, valuation, and broad-based quantitative analyses.
  • Craft presentation materials to summarize strategic and financial analyses.
  • Work collaboratively across multi-faceted teams, particularly when coordinating financial model inputs and conducting due diligence.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 2+ years of experience in investment banking, corporate development, private equity, or venture capital with a preferred focus on depositories or broader financial institutions.
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of financial accounting, capital markets, and valuation concepts, particularly bank accounting and operational metrics.
  • Experience in a deal-oriented environment.
  • Strong research and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced communication and presentation skills. 
  • Strong project management capabilities while handling multiple concurrent projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.

 

Hours & Work Schedule: Hybrid- 4 days in the office, 1 working from home

  • Hours per Week: 40
  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday

 

Pay Transparency

The salary range for this position is $123,000-$158,000 per year plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus.  Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the budget, work location, and relevant skills and experience.
